part 4 Chapter 8 Thesis: Knowledge is ever growing so we must be able to identify sources of existing knowledge in order to grow Observations 1. "The use of existing knowledge is essential in order to do a successful literature review" (Grinnell 168). We have to learn from the past or else we will just keep on repeating it forever as it will be impossible to grow. This mentality of learning from the past is how we humans have gotten to the point we are at now. 2. Their is an ridiculous amount of knowledge out their in the world. "Finding existing knowledge is indeed exciting. However, without careful planning and a well-thought-out search strategy, searching for existing knowledge in this electronic era can easily become a daunting task" (Grinnell 176). You can't just dive in with no plan and think things will go well for you. 3. Already discovered information can be gotten from a lot of different sources each with their own benefits. "In general, in...
Interviews on how the presence of green initiatives effect environmental awarness Interview 1 Valerie Esposito I started the  recording  a few seconds in so we lost the very start but got all the good stuff transcript : Val: OK so what i was saying is that  weave  seen as a trend  across  the country that potential students are more  thoughtful  about  institutions  that they chose and one of the criteria they use are their  stability  foot print you could say in that they are thinking about renewable energy is part of that whole  equation . So then you are asking when they get here if we see any sort of  environmental   learning  though the renewable energy? Me: yea, so what I was trying to figure out was is their a link between people knowing about us using renewable energy and the  attendance  to non required  class  about about nature? Val: oh ok Me: like their are core class ...
Part 3 Chapter 6 Thesis: When conducting research in the social work field and in general we must be careful to remain ethical. 1."During every step in any proposed social work research study, you will be called upon to make numerous ethical decisions" (Grinnell 119). Their is never a study that does not require some form of ethical consideration. If you are preforming a study and don't find any that can only mean that you are not looking close enough at what you are doing to see the social implications of it. 2. When conducting studies it would be unethical if it was then presented in a way that was useless to anyone involved in it. "Researchers hold an ethical responsibility to provide information in such a way that potential research participants fully understand the study and their involvement in it." (Grinnell 135). If we do not do this then we risk putting people in situations they don't want to be in or can't handle and this could cause a lot...
Part 2  chapters 3 Thesis: Chapter three focuses on the quantitative approach to research that focuses on numerical  information on subjects. Observations 1. While objectivity is key it is not actually possible to be completely objective in the real world because of peoples natural biases. "complete objectivity is rarely possible in social work research despite the many strategies that have been developed over the years to achieve it" ( Grinnell  61). We are only humans and humans make mistakes no mater how hard we try not to. 2. When conducting  a study it becomes important  to keep in mind the limitations  of it or you might accidentally  give information that actually  harms people in unintended way. "While you may be better informed at the conclusion of your study, you will not have found the magic cure to alleviate your clients' struggles and suffering by means of only one research study" (Grinnell 77). 3. Their are five steps within ...

ReeshMeth week 2 blog on chapters one and two Chapter 1 Thesis: Social workers are accountable to the society that they work in and the clients that they serve and must acquire and use knowledge to aid them. Evidence: 1. The knowledge a social worker must use comes from a variety of sources while understanding the changes different kinds of sources create. "one of the many ways to enhance our accountability is for you to become fully aware how you actually  go about obtaining the necessary knowledge  you will use to help your client system" (Grinnell 5) Before you can help someone it is necessary to know that the knowledge you are using to do so is true and not some kind of fabrication  as that could result in making things worse.  2.A social worker has to be honest as it is useless if you fit all that other characteristics if you constantly lie or change results to suite your needs or ideas."If dishonesty means a deliberate intention  to deceive, then pr...
