Chapter 28.
Thesis: It is necessary to evaluate, appraise, and brake down quantitative research as it puts you in a better position to conduct your own.
1: Not all studies actually produce information that is actually usefully. "Also, you should be made aware that although, in an ideal sense, good research yields good knowledge, sometimes this simply does not happen" (Grinnell 577). We can not assume that all knowledge we can find is accurate and useful to what we are researching.
2: The ability to critique knowledge and information is critical to anyone that is doing research of any kind. "In addition, the repeated use of this skill will help you appraise social work research in a more critical way" (Grinnell 593).
3: "social work research, by its very nature, is fraught with empirical uncertainty" (Grinnell 593). This means you have to take everything with a grain of salt so that you never take fiction as fact.

Chapter 29.
Thesis: Focuses on the quality of qualitative research as a posed to the previous chapter on quantitative.
1: You must be sure that your source of information is trust worthy and will not intentionally give you the wrong information. "When the findings of your qualitative study actually represent the views of your research participants -once again not yours- then your study can be considered trustworthy" (Grinnell 597).
2: The establishing of credibility is core to research. If it is not done then their is practically no use for the research. It makes it possible for the studies to actually be applied.

Question: Do results ever out way credibility?

Part VIII Chapter 25: Covers the most common kinds of quantitative data statistics and the reasons behind them. 1. Chance in studies can act as its down fall as it will more often then not result in inaccurate information.  "Because we are rarely able to study an entire population, we are almost always dealing with samples drawn from that population" (Grinnell 519). 2.
